Who it's for:Open Water Divers
What it’s about:This is a 2-day course consisting of five open water
Adventure Dives each focusing on a different aspect of diving. Two of the five dives are set: Underwater Navigation and Deep Dive; for the remaining
three dives, you and your instructor will discuss which dives will best suit your interests and needs. Among the
different options: Fish Identification, Boat Dive, Drift Dive, Enriched Air, Multilevel Dive, Night Dive, Peak
Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigation, Underwater Photography, and Wreck Dive.
How it works:Using the Adventures in Diving manual and the accompanying video, you
- view the Adventures in Diving video
- study the chapters corresponding to the Adventure Dives you’ll be doing
- complete the review sections for those chapters
- do five open water dives
What’s included:Classroom sessions, five open water dives, scuba equipment rental, manual,
certification fees.
What’s extra: Additional equipment needed for certain dives, such as for underwater photo.
Other info:One great way to do the Advanced Open Water course is while on a liveaboard trip. But if
you prefer a land-based option, it’s just as much fun. In this case, some dives may be offered from shore and some
from boats, depending on the circumstances. For example, Night Dive is easiest done from the beach, while Deep Dive
is easier from a boat.
